In this section, I will post my thoughts and experiences with my armies and will encourage others to as well.
Since at the moment my son has my Dark Angel armies, I have been concentrating on my Eldar. I have been experimenting with various lists built around my core jetbikers. It was one night when my son was visiting and we were having a friendly (yea right!) game when the suggestion of running 2 seer councils came up. At first I was a bit hesitant, but once I looked at the points and other options I figured I would give it a try.
Well that was just before christmas and I've been running 2 seer councils ever since. Here are my thoughts on the matter and why I have stuck with it. When ever anyone makes a list they try to look toward their opponent and guess what they will bring to the table. Fluff aside, we all want Uber-strong units that can dish out the pain. I was forced to look at what I had available and I realised that the seer council is still the Eldar's Uber-unit. It is good in a fight, it's fast, and can be used at range as well. On top of that, the whole unit is made up of psykers! The points at first look prohibative, but when you look at the alternatives (Wraithlords, Dark Reapers, Fire Prisms, etc) they all have limitations that are easily exploited in the 5th edition metagame. When you lay down a seer council, your opponent has to figure in a unit that has multirole capabilities.
Most Eldar players probably know (or have known) this for donkeys years, but as someone still learning it was quite a watershed moment. So until I can get my hands on some Wasp squadrons (come on Philip), the 2 seer council list will be very prominant in my armoury.
Cheers
